Walnut shells and crushed corn cobs are commonly used for polishing soft alloys, such as jewelry or shell casing. Both corn cob and walnut shell are agricultural products derived from grinding cob or walnut shell into a loose grain form. These products are then sized by a grit range and typically offered in bags. Both products are very light weight by bulk density. Crushed corn cob is one of the most popular medias used for drying parts after vibratory processing. Corn cob has excellent water absorption to prevent corrosion and can clean media residue from the parts.
